MAIN LEVEL:
Up the stairs from the ground level entry brings you to a fantastic great room and kitchen with gleaming hardwood floors. There are comfortable leather couches and a 47 inch flat screen TV to take in a game or your favorite shows after a long day of sightseeing in Seattle or playing at the beach down the street. The elegant gas fireplace turns on easily with a switch and adds wonderful ambiance.
KITCHEN:
Also on the main level just off the living area are the dining areas (seating for 8) and the gorgeous kitchen. The shaker style maple cabinets are complemented by the stunning slab granite countertops and stainless appliances. The kitchen is fully equipped for all your cooking needs and the chef will enjoy the gas stove. This is all open to the living area for easy conversation and fun memories during your Seattle stay.
UPSTAIRS (3rd FLOOR):
Two master suites for optimal privacy! The top floor has a spacious master bedroom with a king bed, beautiful bedding, and an attached full bath. walk-in closet. This room also includes a TV and walk-in closet (a great place to put the pack n play crib!). The second bedroom features a queen bed with lovely bedding, and another attached private bathroom with shower.
GROUND FLOOR:
Enter either from the attached garage or through the front door into the quaint foyer that will welcome you to your home away from home. On this level is a powder room (sink and toilet) and a small third bedroom with enough room for twin bunk beds. While this room is small, it's the perfect spot for the kids to call their own, including their own bathroom just outside their door. And don't forget your own full laundry room just through the garage.
OUTSIDE THE TOWNHOUSE:
Just outside, is a fully fenced private patio space on the ground level including a BBQ and dining area for enjoying a cookout! There is also a garage space attached to the house. It is fairly small, but can fit a compact car, or simply use it as a covered parking space leaving garage door open if your vehicle is longer. Either way, it's reserved for you and is free of charge, so enjoy! Also, street parking is easy to come by (could be more difficult during summer months since we are so close to the popular Alki Beach).
THE ALKI AREA:
Of course, the main attraction in West Seattle is Alki Beach, just a three minute walk from your vacation rental. It stretches 2 1/2 miles and is one of the few destination beaches on Puget Sound. In summer, the beach is populated by beach volleyball players, sun worshipers, and beachcombers. Unlike most rocky Puget Sound beaches, at Alki, you can feel the sand between your toes! Stroll along the pedestrian walkway for people watching or exercise, or even rent a bike. Walk about a half mile to the 100 year old Alki Point Lighthouse, one of eight lighthouses on Puget Sound open to the public (limited hours). Just a block from the townhouse, visit the landmark Spud Fish & Chips, open since 1935, for some local fresh fish and a bit (or bite) of Seattle history. Of course, there are many great restaurants along the beach walk as well. Return to your air conditioned townhouse for a rest before coming back in the evening for a beach fire at one of the many existing fire pits on the sand - now that is what vacation memories are made of!
TO DOWNTOWN:
It is an easy drive of about 6 miles or 10 to 15 min right to downtown Seattle. Or, simply take the affordable water taxi to downtown from Alki's Seacrest Park (a mile from the townhouse). There are free Metro DART shuttles to bring you from the townhouse to the terminal at Seacrest Park. The quick and scenic 10 minute ride will bring you right to the waterfront across Elliott Bay, landing at Pier 50.
Once downtown, the possibilities are endless! Go to Pike Place Market, the Space Needle, Seattle Art Museum, Seattle Aquarium, waterfront shops and Ferris wheel, Pioneer Square, Westlake Center or Pacific Place for shopping, Washington State Convention Center, Washington State Ferries, trendy restaurants and coffee shops including the original Starbucks, or catch a Seahawks football, Mariners baseball or Sounders soccer game.
You will love staying in West Seattle near Alki Beach, living like a Seattleite, experiencing the city at its best. Close enough to enjoy all the main tourist attractions, yet just far enough away for peaceful, true vacation time. And a BEACH! Yes, you'll have it all at Alki Shores Townhouse.
